Awards & Recognition Committee

1. What is the purpose of the Awards and Recognition Committee?

The Awards and Recognition Committee is dedicated to honoring the excellence, service, and meaningful contributions of NRIVA members and the broader community. By celebrating those who go above and beyond, the committee fosters a culture of appreciation and inspires others to give back.

2. What are the award categories?

Awards committee honors excellence through three primary pillars of recognition:

Achievement Recognition: Celebrating professional milestones, academic, non academic , Tech, Science excellence and significant professional accomplishments that bring pride to the community.

Volunteer Recognition: Honoring the selfless dedication and tireless efforts of those who devote their time and energy to further the NRIVA mission.

Talent Recognition: Spotlighting exceptional skills and creativity in fields such as Beauty Pageant,  VGOT Talent,  Pickle ball competitions.

3. Who will receive awards? How can we apply?

Recognition is open to all NRIVA members. We welcome applications from individuals who have demonstrated excellence, commitment, and impactful service within our community and beyond.

How to Apply:

Submit Your Application: Eligible candidates should register their accomplishments by completing the official application form on the Convention website.

Review Process: Once the application window closes, the committee will review all submissions.

Selection: Awards are granted based on a thorough evaluation of the qualified applications received, ensuring a fair and merit-based selection.

4. What if I can't make it to the convention and I have received an award?

We strongly encourage all applicants to register for the convention. Being honored on stage at the 8th Global Convention is a momentous occasion, and we look forward to celebrating your success in person with the entire NRIVA family. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. If you are selected for an award but cannot attend the convention, we will ensure the award is safely handed over to your chapter leadership so it can be presented to you locally at a later date.

Beauty Pageant Committee

1. What is the purpose of the Beauty Pageant? When will it take place?

The Beauty Pageant is a talent-based showcase designed to celebrate our community's values. It encourages participants to build confidence, develop their skills, and serve as positive role models within NRIVA Family.

NRIVA chapters have a long-standing tradition of hosting Beauty Pageants during NRIVA Day events. Preliminary rounds are held at the Chapter level, and the finals will be performed live at the 8th Global Convention. For the exact date and time, please refer to the Events & Schedule page.

2. What are the eligibility criteria for the Beauty Pageant?

Eligibility for the Beauty Pageant is based on age categories:

• Princess & Prince: Ages 7–12
  
• Yuvarani & Yuvaraja: Ages 13–21
  
• Maha Rani & Maha Raja: Ages 21+
  
• VJodi: Couples with both spouses under 60
  
• Golden Age: Couples with at least one spouse aged 60 or older (held only during the Convention)

3. What is the primary focus of the Golden Age category?

The Golden Age category celebrates inner beauty, dignity, and timeless elegance of senior couples ( see contestant age requirement in categories above ). Judges evaluate participants based on maturity, poise, and their shared life journey together as a couple.

4. What are the judging criteria?

Contestants are evaluated based on their fashion walk, talent, confidence, and overall presentation through a three‑part format:

• Introduction (50 seconds): Overview of identity, passions, and strengths
• Western Round (50 seconds): Fashion walk in suggested attire
• Questionnaire Round (50 seconds): 1–2 questions from the judges

5. What happens if I win in the preliminary round?

All winners and runners-up from every chapter are eligible for the finale at the 8th Global Convention in New England. Convention registration is required to compete in the final round in Springfield, MA

Grand Ballet Dance Committee

1. What is the Grand Ballet Dance about?

“NRIVA Nritya Vaibhavam” is an unique first of its kind captivating dance production by NRIVA that brings to life the powerful rhythms and spiritual stories. Through the classical art of Bharatanatyam, the performance blends grace, energy, and expressive storytelling.

Each piece reflects the dancers’ dedication, discipline, and respect for tradition, offering a vivid celebration of a rich cultural legacy.

2. When does the program start and how long is it?

The program is approximately 40 minutes long. Please refer to the Events & Schedule page for more details.

3. What dance style will be performed?

The performance is rooted in Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form renowned for its precision, elegance, and expressive storytelling

4. How many dancers will perform?

40+ trained dance artists will perform together, creating a visually striking and high-energy experience.

5. Will there be narration?

Yes, the program features thoughtfully integrated narration and visual elements to guide the audience through its themes.

Kalyanam Committee

1. When is the Kalyanam event?

The Kalyanam event will be held on the date and time listed on the Events & Schedule page. 

2. Who can perform the Kalyanam?

Only married couples may perform the Kalyanam. All others are welcome to attend as guests and may sit in the designated guest area.

3. Is there a dress code for Kalyanam?

Yes, Suggested dress code is Indian traditional attire for this event.

4. Do participants need to bring anything?

The Kalyanam Basket containing the necessary items will be provided at the convention. 

5. What are the seating arrangements? Especially for senior citizens?

The ceremony is performed while seated on the floor. Chairs will be available around the perimeter for senior citizens and those who need them.

Registration Committee

1. Can Non-NRIVA members register for the event? Are there any special privileges not offered to non-NRIVA members?

Though the registration is open to only Vasavites, Non-Members can also register for the event.

2. Can adult children be included as kids in the same registration?

Yes, adult children from the same family can be included under the same registration.

3. Is paypal or credit card payment option available?

Payments via PayPal or Credit Card are not available.

4. Can visiting parents be added to existing registrations?

Yes, parents can be added to existing registrations under the Edit Profile section of member accounts. Depending on the number of additional people attending from the same family, additional admission tickets must be purchased for valid entry. 

5. Who should I contact for support or issues during registration?
